Ephesus is without a doubt one of the best preserved Roman Cities in the Mediterranean are. Once the Roman Capital of Asia Minor, the city had a population of 250,000 and is said to have been visited by St. John and the Virgin Mary, followed by St. Paul who wrote his "Letter to the Ephesians" here.
